Vietnam Awards Over 100,000 AI and Digital Training Scholarships to People with Disabilities

On the occasion of Vietnamese Disabled People's Day, April 18, a series of meaningful activities are unfolding across the nation, spearheaded by the Ministry of Health and the Vietnam Youth Union for the Disabled. Under the banner of "Inspire Fest 2026," the program underscores the theme "Promoting the Right to Participate, Creating Breakthroughs in Development," a crucial message for a society striving for inclusivity. This year's commemoration highlights not just the challenges faced by Vietnam's estimated 8 million people with disabilities, but more importantly, their potential and their right to actively contribute to national progress.

The "Inspire Fest 2026" is making a significant impact by offering over 100,000 scholarships for AI and digital technology training, alongside 1,000 online courses focused on personal development in the digital age. This initiative directly addresses the findings of a recent study, which revealed that while a vast majority of people with disabilities own digital devices and access the internet, a substantial portion lacks the skills to leverage AI tools for information or content creation. The program's focus on digital literacy is therefore not just about providing access, but about equipping individuals with the tools to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

Beyond digital skills, the initiative extends vital support through the provision of essential equipment, including wheelchairs and prosthetics, as well as free medical examinations and surgeries for those in need. This holistic approach reflects a deep understanding of the multifaceted barriers faced by people with disabilities. The Vietnam Youth Union for the Disabled, through its president Pham Van Thanh, expresses a strong commitment to replicating successful integration models and fostering greater social resource mobilization.
