Vietnam Boosts Military Aviation Research and Production

Vietnam's Ministry of National Defense is pushing forward with the research, design, and manufacturing of military aviation equipment, signaling a strategic move towards greater self-reliance in its defense industry. The initiative aims to reduce dependence on foreign imports and foster indigenous technological capabilities.

During a working session on June 4, Lieutenant General Phạm Hoài Nam, Deputy Minister of National Defense, met with relevant agencies and units to discuss the progress and future direction of this critical task. The General Department of Defense Industry reported on its efforts to collaborate with the Air Defense-Air Force, Viettel Group, and other related entities. These collaborations involve surveys, assessments, and the development of plans for creating military aviation equipment.

The overarching objective is to gradually decrease reliance on imported technologies and achieve self-sufficiency. This aligns with Vietnam's broader policy of developing a dual-use defense industry. By enhancing domestic capabilities, the country aims to improve its training and combat readiness, laying a foundation for the future development of its own military aviation systems.

Participants at the meeting recognized the significant importance of this mission, emphasizing its direct contribution to training and combat readiness, as well as its role in promoting technological autonomy in military aviation. Discussions also covered technological aspects, integration with existing infrastructure, and potential for future upgrades and expansion.

Lieutenant General Phạm Hoài Nam stressed that the research, design, and manufacturing of military aviation equipment represent a strategic direction that will bolster technological self-sufficiency and modernize the defense industry. He urged all involved agencies and units to remain focused on the mission's objectives, strengthen coordination, and leverage internal resources and new scientific advancements.
