Vietnam Defense Minister Honors Fallen Soldiers on War Martyrs Day Eve

General Phan Van Giang, Vietnam's Minister of National Defense and Deputy Prime Minister, led a delegation to pay homage at the National Cemetery of Trường Sơn in Quảng Trị province. The visit on July 26 marked the eve of the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, observed annually on July 27.

The delegation participated in a moment of silence and offered incense and flowers to honor the over 10,000 martyrs interred at the cemetery. This solemn occasion was part of a televised event titled "Sao Sáng Dẫn Đường" (Guiding Star), organized by Vietnam Television (VTV).

The "Sao Sáng Dẫn Đường" program, held simultaneously at four locations including Tuyên Quang, Hanoi, Quảng Trị, and Ho Chi Minh City, aims to commemorate the sacrifices of fallen soldiers and honor those involved in the ongoing efforts to locate and identify the remains of martyrs.

General Giang, along with other high-ranking officials including Deputy Prime Minister Hồ Quốc Dũng and Supreme People's Court Chief Justice Nguyễn Văn Quảng, were present at the Quảng Trị site. The program featured emotional segments, including stories of war widows and children searching for their fathers decades after the war's end, deeply moving the attendees.
