Vietnam Initiates Case Against Two Men for Illegal Exit of Japanese National to Cambodia

Authorities in Tay Ninh province, Vietnam, have launched a criminal case against two Vietnamese men for allegedly organizing the illegal departure of a Japanese national to Cambodia. The arrests were made by border guards from the Phuoc Chi Border Post.

The accused, identified as Mang Van Do, 61, from Tay Ninh, and Tran Van Cong, 25, from Hai Phong city, were caught red-handed with the Japanese citizen, Onomura Hiromitsu, 46, near border marker 174/1 in Phuoc Chi commune. The group was attempting to cross into Cambodia when they were intercepted by a border patrol unit during a routine sweep.

Initial investigations revealed that Mang Van Do claimed he was hired by an unidentified man to transport Cong and Hiromitsu across the border for a fee of 4 million Vietnamese dong. Tran Van Cong stated he knew Hiromitsu previously and had agreed to escort the Japanese national to Cambodia for 5 million dong, with all travel expenses covered by Hiromitsu. The case is currently under further investigation by provincial authorities.
