Director Arrested for Allegedly Embezzling 12 Billion Dong in Real Estate Investment Funds

Authorities in Gia Lai province have arrested a company director accused of embezzling 12 billion Vietnamese dong (approximately $470,000 USD) intended for real estate investment.

Trần Tiến Đạt, 34, director of a multi-sector company focused on real estate in Diên Hồng ward, is under investigation for abusing trust to appropriate assets. The alleged fraud occurred between 2022 and 2024, a period marked by a heated property market in Gia Lai province, with unusually high prices in many areas.

According to the investigation, two individuals from Hanoi, identified as H.Q.L and N.H.H, invested 12 billion dong, representing 80% of the total investment value, with Đạt for joint real estate ventures. However, Đạt is accused of unilaterally transferring ownership of the jointly invested land parcels to third parties and using them as collateral for bank loans, ultimately misappropriating the funds for his personal expenses.

Following the discovery of the alleged scheme, the two investors from Hanoi filed a complaint against Đạt with the police. The Gia Lai Provincial Police have issued a public notice, urging any other individuals or organizations who may have been victimized or involved in Đạt's alleged actions to contact the authorities to report their cases.

Đạt's arrest highlights the risks associated with real estate investments, particularly during periods of market speculation. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the full extent of the alleged misappropriation and identify any further victims.
