Vietnam launches 'Standard SIM - Real Connection' week to boost VNeID verification

Authorities in Vietnam have launched a high-profile campaign to ensure all mobile subscribers verify their personal information, a process crucial for preventing fraud and maintaining legitimate communication channels. The "Standard SIM - Real Connection" initiative, spearheaded by the police's social order administration department (C06) in collaboration with Viettel Telecom and TikTok Vietnam, targets approximately 20 million individuals who have yet to complete the verification.

This push is particularly focused on assisting the elderly and residents in remote areas who may face challenges with digital verification methods. Failure to comply by the deadline will result in a phased suspension of services, starting with one-way blocking and progressing to two-way blocking, ultimately leading to SIM card revocation. Beyond service disruption, unverified SIMs pose significant risks, including the potential loss of access to banking One-Time Passwords (OTP) and increased vulnerability to scams and fraud.

Subscribers can complete the verification process through multiple convenient channels. Online options include using the VNeID app for those with level 2 identity verification or the respective mobile carrier's applications, such as MyViettel. Alternatively, individuals can visit carrier service centers nationwide or arrange for in-home support, specifically catering to the elderly or those with mobility issues.

Viettel Telecom has pledged its full support to the campaign, emphasizing its commitment to ensuring no customer experiences communication disruptions due to incomplete verification. To further amplify the message, a content creation contest themed "Standard SIM - Real Connection" has been launched on TikTok, encouraging widespread public participation and awareness through the hashtag #xacthucthuebao.
