Vietnam police arrest two repeat offenders for kiosk theft

Authorities in Vietnam's Dak Lak province have apprehended two individuals accused of a recent kiosk break-in, adding to their records of property theft. The Provincial Police's Investigative Agency announced on July 22 that it has initiated a case and detained Vu Van Bao, 29, and Vu Quoc Huy, 29, for investigation into the alleged theft. Both suspects, Bao from Lam Dong province and Huy from Dak Lak province, are no strangers to the justice system. According to police reports, they both have previous convictions for theft and have not yet had their criminal records expunged. Their acquaintance reportedly began in early 2026, with Bao visiting Huy in Dak Lak in mid-July. Driven by a need for cash, the pair allegedly embarked on a crime spree on the night of July 14. Traveling by motorcycle, they reportedly sought out vulnerable residences to steal from. Their alleged target on July 15, around 2:30 AM, was a roadside kiosk selling drinks along National Highway 26 in Tan An ward. During the break-in, Bao and Huy are accused of stealing three electronic speakers and approximately 3.4 million Vietnamese dong (about $135 USD) in cash. The kiosk owner reported the incident to the Tan An Ward Police two days later. Through investigative measures, police identified and arrested Bao and Huy on July 19. The Dak Lak Provincial Police are continuing their investigation to further clarify the case and process the suspects according to legal procedures.
