Vietnam's Ca Mau province begins $1.4 million renovation of two historical sites

Ca Mau province is undertaking a significant renovation project valued at over 35 billion Vietnamese dong (approximately $1.4 million USD) to upgrade two important historical sites. The initiative, launched on July 27, coincides with the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day. The provincial People's Committee has commenced work on the Martyrs' Cemetery and the Temple dedicated to the 10 heroes of the Hon Khoai Uprising. According to the Ca Mau Provincial Construction Project Management Board, the Martyrs' Cemetery will receive 29 billion dong for improvements. These include renovations to the burial sites, memorial hall, traditional house, inscription stele, Mậu Thân chiến sĩ monument, internal roads, lighting, and landscaping. The Temple of 10 Heroes of the Hon Khoai Uprising will undergo restoration with a budget of 6.1 billion dong, covering the temple itself, a management house, a bas-relief, pathways, a gate, fencing, and landscaping. Vice Chairman of the Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee, Ngo Vu Thang, noted that years of use have led to the degradation of both sites, with some sections experiencing subsidence and flooding. The repairs are deemed essential to maintain a dignified appearance, accommodate visitors, and preserve the sites' value as educational landmarks for revolutionary traditions. In addition to these renovations, Ca Mau is also implementing various gratitude activities, including the construction and repair of 369 homes for children affected by Agent Orange, costing over 24.7 billion dong, and efforts to locate and repatriate the remains of fallen soldiers.
