Vietnam's La Son-Hoa Lien Expressway Nears Completion of 4-Lane Expansion

The La Son-Hoa Lien expressway, a vital link between Hue and Da Nang, is on the cusp of a significant upgrade, transitioning from a two-lane road to a four-lane highway. After more than a year of intensive construction, the project is in its final phase, with crews focusing on detailed work such as road markings, installing median barriers, and safety features.

The expansion leverages existing infrastructure, utilizing 12 bridges that already meet the four-lane standard. Additionally, 50 other bridges have been newly constructed or widened to accommodate the increased capacity. The road surface has been completed with asphalt, and safety equipment, including guardrails and anti-glare screens, is being installed.

Despite challenges, including potential landslides from past storm damage, project managers are working closely with relevant agencies to implement reinforcement solutions. The goal is to ensure the entire 66-kilometer route is accessible by the end of December 2026. The project, with an investment exceeding 3.217 trillion Vietnamese dong, aims to enhance traffic flow and safety on this crucial route.
