Vietnam's Sun PhuQuoc Airways to receive 8 Airbus A330 planes by end-April 2027

Vietnam's Sun PhuQuoc Airways is set to significantly bolster its international reach with the planned acquisition of eight Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft. The airline announced it will receive the first four A330s this year, with the remaining four scheduled for delivery by April 2027.

The initial two A330s are expected to arrive next month and will immediately enter service. Two more will be delivered before the end of the current year. This expansion is a strategic move to enhance the airline's capacity for international routes.

Sun PhuQuoc Airways intends to utilize the new wide-body jets to strengthen its service to key markets such as South Korea, Russia, Kazakhstan, Japan, and Australia. This expansion aligns with the airline's ambitious goal of growing its fleet to 100 aircraft by the end of 2035. The airline also has plans to take delivery of 40 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner jets starting in 2031.

Launched in November last year, Sun PhuQuoc Airways initially focused on serving tourists traveling to Phu Quoc Island, a popular destination off Vietnam's southern coast. In a related development, aviation training organization BAA Training has partnered with Sun PhuQuoc Airways to provide pilot training for Airbus narrow-body A320 aircraft.
