Vietnam to Offer Four-Day Holiday for Culture Day in 2026

Vietnam is set to offer a four-day consecutive holiday for its citizens in 2026 to mark Vietnamese Culture Day. The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has officially agreed to a proposal that involves shifting a workday to create an extended break.

The chosen plan will allow civil servants, public employees, and workers in state administrative agencies and public service units to enjoy a holiday from Saturday, November 21, to Tuesday, November 24, 2026. This arrangement requires working on Saturday, November 28, 2026, as a make-up day for the shifted Monday, November 23.

The four-day continuous holiday creates conditions for civil servants and public employees to participate in cultural activities, contributing to promoting the meaning of Vietnamese Culture Day.

This decision follows a review of two proposed options by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The preferred option, which creates a continuous four-day holiday, is expected to facilitate greater participation in cultural events and stimulate tourism and consumer spending. The Ministry of Home Affairs emphasized that this shift only involves one workday and ensures all required working hours are met.

For employees in the private sector, while the official holiday falls on Tuesday, November 24, employers are encouraged to adopt a similar holiday schedule. The Ministry of Home Affairs suggests that companies can negotiate with their employees to implement a beneficial arrangement, ensuring all labor laws and employee rights are upheld.
