Vietnam U19 to begin 2026 Southeast Asian Championship campaign June 1

The Vietnam U19 national team is set to kick off their 2026 Southeast Asian U19 Championship journey on June 1. The team has been placed in Group A alongside host nation Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and Myanmar.

Coach Yutaka Ikeuchi's squad will face Timor-Leste on June 1, followed by matches against Myanmar on June 4 and the host team Indonesia on June 7. The match against Indonesia, the reigning champions from 2024, is anticipated to be the toughest challenge for the Vietnamese team.

The tournament, featuring 11 teams, will take place from June 1 to June 15. Group B consists of Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei, while Group C includes Australia, Cambodia, and the Philippines. The format involves a single round-robin within each group, with the three group winners and the best second-placed team qualifying for the semifinals.

Vietnam U19 has undergone extensive preparation, including a training camp in Japan. Coach Ikeuchi's players are expected to continue making a mark for Vietnamese youth football on both regional and international stages.
