Vietnam weather today: Thunderstorms in many areas, with heavy rain possible later

Rain and thunderstorms are expected in many parts of Vietnam on Sept. 6, with some areas likely to see heavy rain from the afternoon into the evening.

The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said northern Vietnam would have showers and thunderstorms in scattered areas. Areas from southern Quang Tri province to Da Nang, the eastern parts of Quang Ngai and Gia Lai provinces, and southeastern Vietnam could also see showers and thunderstorms, with heavy rain possible in the late afternoon and evening.

The Central Highlands are forecast to remain cloudy, with showers and thunderstorms in scattered areas and heavy rain possible during the afternoon and night. Other regions may also receive scattered showers and thunderstorms. The weather service warned of possible tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong wind gusts during storms.

Hanoi is expected to be cloudy but sunny during the day, with temperatures of 26 to 28 degrees Celsius at their lowest and 31 to 33 degrees at their highest. The Northwest and Northeast regions will reach highs of 30 to 33 degrees.

From Thanh Hoa to Hue, temperatures will range from 24 to 27 degrees, with highs of 30 to 33 degrees. The south-central coast will reach 31 to 34 degrees, while the Central Highlands will see highs of 27 to 31 degrees. Southern Vietnam will reach 31 to 34 degrees, and Ho Chi Minh City is forecast to have occasional showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures between 24 and 33 degrees.
