Vietnamese newspaper wins award for insurance journalism

Báo Thanh Niên newspaper received a C prize at the Insurance Journalism Award ceremony for its investigative piece titled "Life Insurance Fraud: Do Genuine Customers Suffer?" The article, authored by Đan Thanh, highlighted issues within the life insurance sector.

The 2025 Insurance Journalism Award attracted a significant number of entries, with 1,050 submissions initially. After preliminary and semi-final evaluations, 79 works advanced to the final judging. Ultimately, the organizing committee presented 4 A prizes, 4 B prizes, 5 C prizes, and 10 consolation prizes to outstanding works.

During the event, Nguyen Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Insurance Association and head of the organizing committee, noted that 2025 was a year of considerable change for Vietnam's insurance market. He pointed to the restructuring of life insurance products starting July 1 and the impact of major natural disasters, which presented challenges while underscoring the sector's essential role in risk management and financial protection for individuals and businesses.

Nguyen Duc Loi, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association and head of the jury, praised the competition for its diverse topics and the journalists' analytical, balanced, and responsible approach to complex insurance market issues. He emphasized that journalism not only reports events but also explains their nature, raises policy questions, and fosters dialogue among regulators, insurers, and the public. The 2026 Insurance Journalism Award was officially launched at the ceremony, inviting submissions for works published or broadcast between April 1, 2026, and March 31, 2027.
