Vietnamese rescue team finds earthquake victim in Venezuela

A Vietnamese search and rescue team has successfully located and recovered the body of an earthquake victim in Venezuela. The team, deployed by the Ministry of Public Security's Firefighting and Rescue Police Department (C07), is operating in Playa Grande, Catia la Mar, a region severely impacted by the recent earthquake.

Following an initial survey and camp setup, the Vietnamese contingent began search operations. Their current focus is a heavily damaged 9-story apartment building in Playa Grande. The team has divided into several groups to conduct searches across different locations, with specific units concentrating on the collapsed residential tower.

According to C07 representatives, approximately 15 people are believed to be trapped under the rubble of the apartment building. Specialized search dogs have been deployed to pinpoint victim locations. However, the rescue operation faces significant challenges due to the complex structural damage and a high risk of further collapses, making access to victims extremely difficult and dangerous.

Despite the hazardous conditions, the Vietnamese team, led by Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Anh Tuan, is committed to maximizing rescue efforts. The team's leader emphasized the importance of finding as many victims as possible quickly while ensuring the absolute safety of the rescue personnel and equipment. As of the latest update, the team has successfully recovered one body from the debris.
