Vikingur R. Eliminated from Europa Conference League After 6-2 Aggregate Loss

Vikingur R.'s European journey has ended after a 3-1 loss to Bosnian club Borac in the second leg of their Europa Conference League playoff. The Icelandic team fell 6-2 on aggregate, failing to overcome the first-leg deficit.

Despite a spirited start, Vikingur took the lead in the 17th minute thanks to an own goal by a Borac defender. However, the advantage was short-lived. Borac equalized in the 55th minute with a free-kick and then added two more goals in quick succession. Luka Juricic scored on a counter-attack in the second half, and substitute Pavle Ðajic sealed the victory with the final kick of the game.

Vikingur had chances to equalize the tie in the first half, with Gylfi Þór Sigurðsson's shot narrowly missing the post and Aron Elís Þrándarson hitting the crossbar with a header. Coach Sölvi Geir Ottesen attempted to change the game with a triple substitution in the 64th minute, but it proved ineffective as Borac capitalized on Vikingur's struggles.

The defeat marks a disappointing end to Vikingur's European campaign, particularly after a strong first half in Bosnia. The team will now refocus on domestic competitions.
