Vilharjeva cesta closed until July 4 due to construction

Ljubljana residents and visitors should prepare for significant traffic disruptions this summer as multiple construction projects continue across the capital. Key arteries, particularly in the Bežigrad area, will face closures affecting access to major developments like the Ljubljana main train station, the multi-purpose Emonika complex, and new office buildings.

Vilharjeva cesta, near its intersection with Dunajska cesta, will be completely closed to all traffic from Wednesday, June 24, until an estimated July 4. This closure is part of extensive work to upgrade public infrastructure and manage the ongoing construction of the Ljubljana Passenger Center, which is slated for completion in 2026, pending private investor involvement and building permits.

During the closure, cyclists and drivers of passenger vehicles will be rerouted through nearby streets. Authorities are advising the public to anticipate considerable traffic jams and to exercise patience as they navigate these detours. The ongoing works are essential for the development of the new passenger hub and associated commercial spaces.
