Villarreal signs Canadian international Nathan Saliba

Villarreal has officially announced the signing of Canadian international midfielder Nathan Saliba, who will wear the yellow jersey for the next five seasons. The 22-year-old arrives from Belgian club Anderlecht following a transfer agreement reached on Tuesday, with Villarreal paying approximately 15 million euros for the player's rights.

Saliba is set to reinforce the midfield of the team coached by Iñigo Pérez and represents a long-term investment for the club, with his contract extending until June 30, 2031. The Canadian international, who participated in the recent World Cup, was a player Villarreal had been monitoring for some time. His strong performances for Anderlecht and his national team were the key factors in this transfer.

After nearly eighty appearances in MLS with Montreal and fifty with Anderlecht in the Belgian league, the young midfielder joins Villarreal. He will become the third Canadian player in the squad, alongside Tajon Buchanan and Tani Oluwaseyi. Saliba is expected to join his new teammates for training on Wednesday, with his official presentation to follow.
