Villarruel demands Adorni appear in Senate in June, citing constitutional duty

Vice President Victoria Villarruel has publicly demanded that Chief of Staff Manuel Adorni present himself to the Senate in June to deliver his management report, rejecting his announced appearance in July. Villarruel emphasized that the head of the cabinet is obligated to appear before Congress at least once a month to report on the government's progress, a duty she claims Adorni has not fulfilled since taking office in November 2025.

The Chief of Cabinet must make himself available to the Chambers of Congress to report on the government's progress. This obligation is at least once a month, however Adorni has not done so since he took office in November of '25.

Citing Article 101 of the National Constitution, Villarruel reminded that the Chief of Cabinet must attend Congress at least once per month, alternating between the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, to inform about the government's trajectory. Adorni had previously indicated his intention to appear before the Senate in July, a timeline now contested by the Vice President.

The Vice President's demand comes amid ongoing scrutiny of Adorni. PRO Senator Martín Goerling had also recently called for Adorni's presence in the Senate, highlighting that the chamber had not received the Chief of Cabinet in nearly a year, with the last report dating back to June 2025. Goerling pointed out that Adorni had never appeared to account for his actions since assuming office, as required by the constitution.

It has been almost a year since the Senate has received the Chief of Cabinet. The last report was on June 26, 2025. Since he took office, he has never come to account, as required by Article 101 of the Constitution.

Adding to the tension, Villarruel had previously criticized Adorni's explanations regarding his financial disclosure statement in a recent interview. She described his actions as a "disgrace" and sarcastically commented on his remarks, referencing a "magic USB drive" in response to his "cascade of successes."
