Villarruel summons Adorni to Senate after Pro party's demand for explanations

Vice President Victoria Villarruel has formally summoned Chief of Staff Manuel Adorni to the Senate this month, responding to a demand from the Pro party. Adorni is constitutionally obligated to report to Congress monthly, alternating between the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies. However, he has never appeared before the Senate since assuming office on November 4, 2025.

Villarruel's call for Adorni's appearance comes after the Pro party, led by Mauricio Macri, issued a statement criticizing his explanations about his growing wealth. The party highlighted a contradiction between Adorni's April 29 report to the Chamber of Deputies, where he stated all his assets were declared without any concealment, and his recent interview where he admitted to having hidden savings in "black" accounts. Pro called this a "grave lack of transparency" and urged adherence to the transparency expected by society.

Pro emphasized the need to "rise to the occasion" as society makes sacrifices for "change." They stated, "We cannot continue to fuel avoidable controversies, unnecessary contradictions, or episodes that erode public trust." The party added, "At this point, the most responsible attitude is to protect the change, acting with the transparency that society demands."

Martín Goerling, president of the Pro bloc, had formally requested Villarruel to summon Adorni, emphasizing that the Chief of Staff could not delay his Senate appearance. This move signals a growing distance between Pro and the ruling party, La Libertad Avanza, with Pro increasingly exhibiting independence from the government.
