Vincent Pastore, the actor celebrated for his portrayal of Salvatore "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero in the acclaimed HBO series 'The Sopranos,' has passed away at the age of 80. His death was confirmed by his representative, Bob McGowan.

Neighbors found Pastore unresponsive in his home in the Bronx, New York, where he was born on July 14, 1946. Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. The actor had not been heard from for several days prior to being discovered.

Pastore's career was largely defined by his roles in films centered around crime and organized crime. Before achieving widespread recognition, he appeared in notable movies such as 'Goodfellas' and 'Carlito's Way.' However, it was his role as the complex mobster "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero, a close confidant of protagonist Tony Soprano, that cemented his place in television history.

He played the character over 30 episodes, navigating "Big Pussy's" intricate loyalties as a mob captain and later an FBI informant. Beyond his most famous role, Pastore's acting journey began after a stint in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and a return to study acting, securing his first film role after turning 40.
