Violent Home Invasion in Mar del Plata: Family Threatened, Robbed

A violent home invasion occurred in the San Carlos neighborhood of Mar del Plata, Argentina, where five masked individuals broke into a residence, subdued a couple and their son, and fled with cash, jewelry, and a vehicle. The incident took place just 300 meters from the Playa Grande Golf Club.

The assailants entered the home mid-morning, surprising the residents. The woman was confined to the kitchen while the man, who reportedly offered resistance, was beaten by at least two attackers. Security camera footage captured parts of the assault, showing the attackers using a knife on the woman and threatening to cut out her tongue. They also demanded dollars, though the family stated they had none, handing over a six-figure sum in cash instead.

During the ordeal, the attackers moved between the victims, with one going upstairs to check on the son, whose whereabouts were unknown to his parents at the time. The male homeowner was assaulted with fists, kicks, a hockey stick, and then had his legs bound, significantly limiting his movement. The thieves escaped in the victims' VW Amarok SUV, which was later found abandoned on the outskirts of the city.

Authorities are examining the recovered vehicle for forensic evidence. A minor has been apprehended on suspicion of involvement in the robbery. The stolen items included the SUV, cash, electronic equipment, phones, and gold rings. This incident adds to a series of robberies in the area, prompting local residents to demand increased security measures.
