Visma-Lease a Bike wins Tour of the Alps stage; Baudin leads overall

The Visma-Lease a Bike team secured victory in the third stage of the Tour of the Alps, a challenging team time trial held in Perreux. The 28-kilometer route, featuring varied terrain, did not significantly alter the overall standings.

Alex Baudin of the Education-EasyPost team maintained his lead in the general classification, holding a twelve-second advantage. He is closely followed by Ineos Grenadiers teammates Kevin Vauquelin and Oscar Onley. Despite his team's sixth-place finish in the stage, French favorite Paul Seixas of Decathlon-AG2R La Mondiale increased his deficit to the leader.

Matteo Jorgenson, captain for Visma-Lease a Bike and fourth overall, described the team's performance amidst challenges. "We had a lot of problems, a technical issue at the start, almost a crash in the middle of the test, but we adapted and rode extremely fast in the last ten kilometers," he stated.

Slovenian cyclists Matej Mohorič and Matevž Govekar, riding for Bahrain Victorious, finished tenth in the stage, while Gal Glivar of Alpecin-Deceuninck placed fourteenth. Mohorič currently holds the highest overall position among the Slovenians at 58th place.

The race now moves to two flatter stages before concluding with three decisive mountain stages, including climbs to Crest-Voland, Grand Colombier, and the Col de la Solaison, routes that will also feature in the upcoming Tour de France.
