Vivienne Jolie follows siblings in dropping Brad Pitt's surname

Vivienne Jolie, the youngest daughter of Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, is following in the footsteps of her siblings by seeking to legally remove their father's surname. The 18-year-old filed documents in July to change her name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie, citing "personal reasons."

California law requires a public notice of such petitions. Vivienne published this notice in the Los Angeles Daily Journal weekly for four consecutive weeks, between July 24 and August 14. A final hearing is set for November 2, where a judge can approve the request if no objections are filed. She retains her middle name, Marcheline, in honor of her late maternal grandmother.

This move is not entirely surprising, as Vivienne had already begun using "Vivienne Jolie" in the program for "The Outsiders" theatrical adaptation, which she worked on with her mother. Her siblings have also initiated similar legal processes. Shiloh was the first to formally change her name on her 18th birthday. Reports indicate that Zahara and Maddox have also published the required notices. Zahara's hearing is scheduled for September 28, while Maddox's date is yet to be confirmed.

With Vivienne's petition, four of the six children shared by Pitt and Jolie, Maddox (24), Pax (22), Zahara (21), Shiloh (20), and twins Knox and Vivienne (18), have either started or completed the process of shedding their father's surname. This pattern further signals a strained relationship between the children and their father.
