Vollering wins Tour de France Femmes penultimate stage, takes yellow jersey

Demi Vollering seized the yellow jersey in the Tour de France Femmes by winning the penultimate stage. The Dutch rider launched a decisive attack near the end of the long 171.9-kilometer race from Sisteron to Nice.

Vollering, riding for FDJ United-Suez, left Kasia Niewiadoma trailing by 17 seconds at the finish line. This victory dramatically reshaped the general classification, putting Vollering in the lead by a mere 8 seconds over Niewiadoma heading into the final stage.

The race's longest stage featured a breakaway group of two riders, Loes Adegeest and Maëva Squiban, who built a lead of over six minutes. However, the peloton, with Vollering's team controlling the pace, eventually reeled them in.

The final stage on Sunday will be a challenging route with four ascents of the Col d’Èze, promising a tense conclusion to the women's Grand Tour. Marlen Reusser, who previously wore the yellow jersey, remains in third place, more than a minute behind Vollering.
