Volta Minister Supports Para Athletes with Funds and Provisions

Volta Regional Minister James Gunu has provided significant support to the Volta para athletes team, donating GH¢10,000 and five bags of rice. This contribution is intended to bolster the team's morale and readiness as they prepare for the upcoming 6th Inter-Regional Wheelchair Basketball competition.

The Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) remained firmly dedicated to championing sports development.

The flagship tournament is scheduled to take place at the Ho Sports Stadium from August 14 to 17. It serves as a crucial platform for promoting social inclusion and empowering individuals with disabilities through the power of competitive sports.

During a courtesy call by the leadership of the Volta Para Sports and Mobility Empowerment Association (VPMEA), led by President Madam Betty Gharbin, Mr. Gunu presented the donations. He commended the athletes for their resilience and urged them to aim for victory.

The event would bring together athletes from five regions, with an estimated 150 participants expected.

Minister Gunu reaffirmed the Volta Regional Coordinating Council's (VRCC) unwavering dedication to advancing sports development. He assured the team that his office would continue to offer strategic support, including transport coordination and security arrangements, to ensure the tournament's smooth and successful execution. Madam Betty Gharbin expressed deep gratitude for the minister's timely intervention, noting that the event is expected to gather approximately 150 participants from five regions.
