Voracious fire erupts in plastic warehouse on Daule highway

A significant structural fire erupted Friday morning in a plastic warehouse located within Parque California 2, at kilometer 12 of the Daule highway in Guayaquil.

The ECU 911 emergency service coordinated the response, dispatching the Guayaquil Fire Department, the Ecuadorian Police, and the Guayaquil Transit and Mobility Authority. Multiple units, including 14 combat units, three ladder trucks, three water tankers, three ambulances, three rescue vehicles, and two vehicles for breathing apparatus, were deployed to the scene.

The blaze reportedly began around 9:00 AM, causing alarm among workers, merchants, and drivers in the highly commercial area. Videos and live streams of the emergency circulated on social media, with estimates suggesting significant losses.

As of Friday afternoon, the causes of the fire remained undetermined. Authorities have not provided any information regarding injuries or fatalities. Firefighters continue to work at the scene to control the situation.
