Vouliagmeni makes a 'splash' with Eleftheriadou's return to active play

The Greek water polo club Vouliagmeni has made a significant acquisition for the upcoming season by signing international player Nicole Eleftheriadou. The move marks Eleftheriadou's return to active competition after a two-year hiatus from the pools.

Eleftheriadou, 28, had decided to step away from the sport after competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she was a key member of the Greek National Team. Now, she is set to wear the cap for NO Vouliagmeni, having signed a two-year contract. Her immediate goal is to regain her top form and performance level.

Looking further ahead, Eleftheriadou also has her sights set on potentially earning a spot on the national team for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Throughout her career, she has achieved considerable success both with the national team and at the club level. With Greece, she participated in the 2024 Olympics and secured a silver medal at the 2018 European Championship, along with a bronze in 2024 and a fourth-place finish at a World Championship.

At the club level, playing for Olympiacos, Eleftheriadou has celebrated two Champions League titles, three European Super Cups, nine Greek league championships, and five Greek Cups. She is widely regarded as one of the most successful athletes of her generation. Upon finalizing her agreement with Vouliagmeni, Eleftheriadou expressed her enthusiasm: "I am particularly happy to take this new step and to belong to the family of Nautical Club Vouliagmeni.
