Vozinha's First Call-Up Highlights Superclásico Between U de Chile and Colo Colo

The highly anticipated 'superclásico' between league leaders Colo Colo and their chasers Universidad de Chile will feature a notable debut on the sidelines: the first squad call-up for Cape Verdean goalkeeper Josimar José Évora Dias, known as 'Vozinha.' The club confirmed his inclusion for the match on Sunday.

Vozinha, who arrived in Chile just 20 days ago, is expected to be on the bench. The 40-year-old goalkeeper, a participant in the 2026 World Cup, has completed his physical conditioning after a period of vacation following the international tournament. Coach Fernando Ortiz stated that Vozinha is competing with the other goalkeepers, but has not yet finalized the starting lineup.

Despite Vozinha's availability, Ortiz has shown confidence in 19-year-old Gabriel Maureira, who has been filling in since the injury of regular keeper Fernando De Paul. Maureira has maintained his starting position even after a recent 2-2 draw and conceding six goals in the last three league matches.

The 'superclásico' is particularly significant this season as Universidad de Chile, currently 10 points behind Colo Colo, has an opportunity to close the gap in the league standings. This 200th encounter between the two Chilean giants carries added weight in the title race.
