Vučić announces long-promised large rallies in Novi Sad, Užice

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has once again announced large public gatherings in Novi Sad and Užice, cities he claims he was previously barred from entering. Vučić stated these rallies would happen "relatively soon," with Užice expected by the end of August and Novi Sad in early September.

Since they said I shouldn't go to Užice and Novi Sad, I have now scheduled big popular rallies precisely in Užice and Novi Sad.

These announcements come after repeated promises of a "big rally" by the ruling party in Novi Sad, which has yet to take place despite numerous prior declarations. Previous announcements, such as one on April 29, 2025, mentioned gatherings in Niš, Kragujevac, and Novi Sad, with Vučić asserting they would proceed despite alleged prohibitions.

Even on Vidovdan, a day of significant protest in Belgrade, Vučić considered Novi Sad for a "Movement for the People and the State" rally, though he ultimately did not hold it there. Further announcements last summer for a September rally in Novi Sad, intended to be larger than a previous Belgrade event, also failed to materialize. Vučić cited his international and domestic obligations, including a military parade, as reasons for the delay.

Most recently, on September 15, 2025, Vučić again spoke of an upcoming "big rally" in Novi Sad, noting his frequent visits due to relatives in the city. He also commented on political opponents, stating, "They wanted to destroy Serbia, we will defeat them more convincingly (than before). Their nervousness is growing because they realize everything is over."
