VW revives nostalgic style with new electric ID. Cross model

Volkswagen is blending nostalgia with electric innovation in its latest offering, the ID. Cross. This new urban crossover draws stylistic inspiration from the brand's heyday, aiming to capture a market segment seeking both modern electric technology and classic design cues.

The ID. Cross measures 415 cm in length, 179 cm in width, and 158 cm in height, with a wheelbase of 2601 mm. While slightly larger than the gasoline-powered T-Cross, its electric MEB+ platform allows for a more spacious interior. The trunk offers 475 liters of storage, 20 liters more than the T-Cross, with additional space under the adjustable floor for small items. A 25-liter storage compartment is also located under the front hood, suitable for charging cables and accessories.

Inside, the ID. Cross prioritizes comfort with soft fabrics and carefully finished controls. Volkswagen highlights a return to physical buttons, a feature many drivers appreciate. The "Digital Cockpit Pro" features a 10.25-inch screen that can display information in a classic layout or a retro mode inspired by the first-generation Golf's instrument cluster. This mode replaces the tachometer with a display of current power output or energy consumption, merging nostalgic aesthetics with electric mobility.

The exterior design follows Volkswagen's new "Pure Positive" language, characterized by simple surfaces, robust proportions, and a friendly appearance. The ID. Cross will be powered by the new APP290 electric motor, driving the front wheels, and will be offered in three power variants with two battery options. This approach aims to make the ID. Cross a significant model in Volkswagen's expanding electric lineup.
