Wang Steak Stock Surges Over 6% After Strong Earnings, Share Buyback Announcement

Wang Steak, a leading chain in Taiwan's dining sector, has announced robust financial performance for the first half of the year, with its net profit approaching the equivalent of its entire stock capital. This strong showing has bolstered investor confidence, leading to a significant rise in its stock price.

The company reported consolidated revenue of NT$12.92 billion (approximately $400 million USD), marking a 12.97% increase year-on-year. Pre-tax net profit reached NT$820 million (approximately $25 million USD), a 25.15% jump from the previous year. Earnings per share stood at NT$9.86, up from NT$7.88, nearing the NT$10 threshold that constitutes a full capital share.

In line with its financial success, Wang Steak's board of directors has approved a treasury stock program. The company plans to repurchase 1,500 shares from the open market between August 10 and October 6. The buyback price range is set between NT$170 and NT$280 per share, with the intention of transferring these shares to employees.

Following the announcement of its earnings and the share buyback plan, Wang Steak's stock experienced a notable surge. In early trading on August 7, the stock price climbed to NT$239, eventually trading at NT$237.5 by 10 a.m., representing a 6.03% increase on a trading volume of 962 shares. The company's performance highlights a strong recovery and growth trajectory in the post-pandemic dining landscape.
