Watch: Buskers Play 'Falling Slowly' in Memory of Glen Hansard

A touching memorial busk took place in Dublin's city center on Thursday, drawing musicians and fans to pay tribute to the beloved singer-songwriter Glen Hansard. The gathering occurred near the statue of folk singer Luke Kelly, a spot familiar to Hansard, who frequently held his traditional Christmas Eve charity busks in the vicinity of the nearby Gaiety Theatre.

I organised this today because I wanted to give people who are also fans of Glen a chance to gather and be together with other people who are also sad.

Musicians assembled to perform songs that defined Hansard's career, with renditions of the Oscar-winning hit "Falling Slowly" among the highlights. The tribute event was held just a day after Hansard tragically died in a motorcycle crash in the Strawberry Beds area of Dublin.

Jamie Harrington, who grew up in the same Ballymun suburb as Hansard, organized the memorial. He shared that one of the participating musicians was playing a guitar gifted by Hansard himself. "I organised this today because I wanted to give people who are also fans of Glen a chance to gather and be together with other people who are also sad," Harrington said. "You know, it's a really, really sad time. Glen was a legend to many of us. He was a friend to me, and I was very lucky to have Glen as a friend and as someone I could rely on and depend on when things needed to be done."
