WATCH: IDF paratroopers and K9 unit discover, destroy rocket-filled tunnel in southern Gaza

Israeli forces have uncovered and destroyed a significant terror tunnel in the southern Gaza Strip, packed with dozens of rockets. The discovery was made by IDF Paratroopers working alongside the Oketz K9 unit, which utilized a military dog equipped with a body camera to explore the subterranean structure. The tunnel was subsequently demolished by IDF engineering units.

The operation is part of broader efforts to clear the Gaza Strip of terrorist infrastructure, both above and below ground, within the area delineated by the Yellow Line. The use of K9 units, particularly in tunnels, is highlighted as crucial for mitigating threats in dark and confined spaces. The video footage released by the IDF shows the military dog navigating the tunnel and locating numerous munitions.

This destruction of the rocket-filled tunnel is consistent with sustained operations aimed at dismantling terrorist capabilities in accordance with the existing ceasefire framework. The IDF has reported destroying many kilometers of Hamas terror tunnels in recent months. In parallel, the military announced the recent killing of three terrorists from separate groups in Gaza over the preceding week, including members of Jaish al-Islam and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, as well as a Hamas commander.
