Water outage forces Chessington theme park to close

Chessington World of Adventures, a popular theme park and zoo in southwest London, was forced to close its gates on Monday, August 10, due to a water outage affecting the local area. The resort cited the disruption as the reason for the unexpected closure.

Visitors with tickets for the affected day were informed that their bookings would either be refunded or could be rescheduled for a future visit. The park did not provide a specific cause for the water supply issue or an estimated time for its resolution and reopening.

The closure comes at a particularly inconvenient time, falling in the middle of the school summer holidays, typically one of the busiest periods for UK theme parks. Chessington World of Adventures issued an apology for the inconvenience caused to its guests and expressed gratitude for their understanding. This is not the first time the park has faced such disruptions; it also closed for a day in July 2018 following a burst water main that impacted local homes and businesses.
