Water Pipe Rupture Causes Outage for 293 Households in Kaohsiung's Fengshan District

Residents in Kaohsiung's Fengshan District are experiencing a significant water outage after a 250mm PVC water pipe ruptured on Chengqing Road early Tuesday morning. The incident, which occurred around 8 a.m. near Fengshan High School, has disrupted water supply to 293 households in the surrounding areas.

The Kaohsiung Water Company's Taokou Water Treatment Plant, located adjacent to the school, is currently undertaking emergency repairs. Contractors have deployed heavy machinery to excavate the site and address the leak. The affected areas include parts of Chengqing Road, Wenjian Street, Huabei Street, and Huashan Street, spanning across the Fengshan and Lingya districts.

Water service is anticipated to be unavailable for approximately nine hours, with restoration expected by 5 p.m. today. The exact cause of the pipe rupture is still under investigation. This disruption highlights the ongoing challenges with aging infrastructure and the impact of such failures on daily life for a considerable number of residents.
