We killed ex-OGTV broadcaster to teach her a lesson – Suspect

Police in Ogun State, Nigeria, have arrested three suspects in connection with the killing of ex-broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku and her guard, Pelumi Adetayo. The prime suspect, identified as Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, allegedly confessed to orchestrating the murder to "teach her a lesson."

Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni stated that the investigation began after a resident reported suspicious activity at Oyesiku's residence. Detectives found signs of forced entry and discovered the guard's body in the security post and Oyesiku's body inside her apartment. Oyesiku's Lexus RX300 vehicle, initially reported missing, was later recovered.

Further intelligence gathering and painstaking investigation led to the identification and arrest of the principal suspect, Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip ‘m’ aged 22 years, on 24th June, 2026, at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, where he was working as a labourer.

A crucial lead emerged when a note was found inside the recovered vehicle. Forensic analysis of the note led to Philip's arrest on June 24, 2026, at a construction site in Ibara, Abeokuta, where he was working as a laborer. Further investigation led to the apprehension of Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, a security guard, and Sobu Obafunsho, a bricklayer, who are allegedly linked to the crime.

Further follow-up operations by detectives of the Command led to the successful arrest of Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola ‘m’ aged 27 years, a security guard, and Sobu Obafunsho ‘m’ aged 36 years, a bricklayer, thereby bringing into custody all identified suspects directly linked to the criminal conspiracy.

During interrogation, Philip reportedly admitted to recruiting Ayoola and Obafunsho for the crime. He stated that the murder was motivated by grievances stemming from his time working as a security guard for Oyesiku, and that the attack was intended to "teach her a lesson."
