Popular Oyo State broadcaster and philanthropist Oriyomi Hamzat has declared that the "journey to a greater Oyo has begun" following his emergence as the Accord Consensus Candidate for the 2027 governorship election. Hamzat, who had declared his intentions earlier in January, expressed deep humility and inspiration from the wave of support from party stakeholders, followers, and residents across the state.

I am deeply humbled by the overwhelming support shown to me following my emergence as the Accord Consensus Candidate for the 2027 Governorship Election in Oyo State.

In a statement released after his emergence, Hamzat framed the moment as transcending personal ambition. He described it as a collective movement driven by hope, justice, development, and people-oriented leadership. "This moment is not just about me, it is about our collective hope for a better, safer, and more prosperous Oyo State," he stated, emphasizing that the massive show of love and acceptance has strengthened his belief in building the future the people deserve.

Hamzat extended his sincere appreciation to the leadership of the Accord Party at both national and state levels, as well as to individuals who support what he calls a growing movement for positive change. He acknowledged the sacrifices, loyalty, prayers, and commitment of thousands of followers who have remained steadfast, stating, "Your prayers, sacrifices, loyalty, and commitment will continue to inspire me throughout this journey."

Turning attention to pressing local issues, Hamzat addressed the growing anxiety in parts of Oyo State following a tragic abduction incident in Oriire Local Government Area. He expressed his thoughts remain with the affected children, teachers, and families enduring fear and uncertainty, particularly as some victims remain in captivity. Hamzat pledged continued prayers for their safe and immediate return and stood in solidarity with those affected by the attack.
