We Tested the Most Popular Detangling Brushes and Found a Clear Favorite

Olivia Garden’s Fingerbrush Combo Large emerged as the clear favorite in a comparison of six popular detangling brushes. It received a rating of 9.5 and was praised for combining different bristles with a flexible head that left hair smooth and shiny.

The test began with a familiar problem: brushing long, thick or easily tangled hair can become a daily struggle. Too much pressure can break the hair instead of removing the knots. Detangling brushes promise a gentler solution, but the comparison set out to determine which models actually work quickly and smoothly.

EL PAÍS Escaparate tested the Olivia Garden, Beter, Ninabella, Tangle Teezer, Lily England and Termix brushes in everyday use. The review considered how easily each brush removed knots, how many passes it required, how gentle it felt and how comfortable it was to handle. It also looked at whether the brushes worked better on dry or wet hair.

Beter’s Natural Fiber Detangling Brush scored 9 and was described as light, comfortable and effective, with strong value for money. Ninabella’s Spiral Brush scored 8.8 and stood out for its design. Tangle Teezer’s Detangling Hairbrush scored 8.5, particularly for wet hair. Lily England’s detangling brush scored 8, while Termix’s Paddle Brush scored 7.5 and offered a large format for working through more hair with each stroke.
