We won’t let APC take Osun back to hardship era, Adeleke

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has called on residents to vote massively in the August 15 governorship election, vowing that his administration will not allow the All Progressives Congress (APC) to return the state to a period of hardship. Adeleke specifically referenced a time when civil servants allegedly had to beg neighbors for food.

In a post on his official X handle, Adeleke urged eligible voters to defend the state's progress by supporting his administration. He alleged that the former APC administration "weaponized poverty" by implementing policies such as paying workers half salaries, which left many civil servants struggling to provide for their families and denied citizens access to basic necessities. "We must never go back to those dark days," Adeleke declared.

Those who once weaponised poverty by paying workers half salaries, leaving civil servants to struggle to feed their families, and denying our people access to basic necessities are desperate to return to inflict more pain. We must never go back to those dark days.

The governor encouraged voters to use the August 15 election as an opportunity to reaffirm their commitment to progress, compassion, and good governance. He stated, "On August 15, I urge every eligible voter to send a clear and resounding message that Osun has chosen the path of progress, compassion and good governance." Adeleke emphasized that together, they would protect the people's mandate and ensure Osun continues to move forward.

Adeleke's remarks come as political campaigns intensify ahead of the governorship election, where he is seeking a second term in office. His administration aims to contrast its current governance with the alleged failures of the previous APC administration, framing the election as a choice between continued progress and a return to past difficulties.
