Weather forecast for Sept. 8: Sunny in northern Vietnam, thunderstorms from Thanh Hoa to the south

Northern Vietnam will see sunshine on Sept. 8, while areas from Thanh Hoa to the southern region face intermittent sunshine, afternoon and evening showers, and locally heavy rain.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said thunderstorms could bring strong gusts and tornadoes. Authorities warned of possible flooding and landslides in the Central Highlands.

At sea, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai, from Khanh Hoa to Ca Mau, from Ca Mau to An Giang, and in the Gulf of Thailand. Storms are also forecast in the southern part of the northern East Sea, the central East Sea and the western southern East Sea. Winds could reach force 7 to 8, with waves higher than 2 meters, putting vessels in the affected areas at risk.

Hanoi is forecast to reach 33 to 35 degrees Celsius, while Ho Chi Minh City could reach 33 to 35 degrees. The Central Highlands will be cooler, with highs of 26 to 29 degrees and heavy rain possible in the afternoon and at night.
