Weather Shift Expected in Lithuania: Warmer Weekend Ahead, Rain Returns Early Next Week

Lithuania is on the cusp of a welcome weather shift, with meteorologists predicting warmer temperatures and less rain beginning Friday. The change comes after a period of unsettled weather, offering a hopeful outlook for the weekend.

On Friday, we will still have short rain with thunderstorms, during the day it will be a couple of degrees warmer. The ridge of the anticyclone, named Norbert, will spread from the west, southwest, with drier and calmer weather towards the southern Baltic and Lithuania.

According to weather forecaster E. Latvėnaitė, Friday will see a slight increase in temperature by a couple of degrees, though short-lived thunderstorms are still possible. The arrival of an anticyclone ridge named Norbert from the west and southwest is expected to bring drier and calmer conditions to the southern Baltic region, including Lithuania. While Saturday may still experience some light rain and showers, particularly in the morning, the evening is anticipated to be clear and rain-free, providing a pleasant outlook for those planning evening events.

The weekend promises further improvement, with Saturday being warmer and Sunday expected to be entirely free of rain and even warmer. However, this respite will be short-lived. A low-pressure system is set to bring rain and thunderstorms back to Lithuania by Monday and Tuesday. The northern and western parts of the country may experience cooler temperatures on Monday, while Tuesday is expected to be both wet and cool across the nation.

Unfortunately, on Monday and probably still on Tuesday, a valley of a rainy cyclone with clouds of atmospheric fronts will pass through Scandinavia and the Baltics into Lithuania. It will rain again, thunderstorms will rumble again.

Looking ahead, a more stable and summery pattern is forecast to return from Wednesday onwards. An anticyclone is expected to bring dry and progressively warmer weather, with a significant temperature increase anticipated by the end of the week. This suggests that summer conditions are likely to make a comeback after the brief interruption.
