West Java Closes School Introduction Period with Province-Wide Ecological Action

West Java Governor's office concluded the Pancawaluya School Introduction Period 2026 with a province-wide "Ecological Action" event. The initiative, centered at the Cikutra Heroes Cemetery in Bandung, aimed to instill environmental awareness among new students.

The event saw participation from 343,374 new tenth-grade students from high schools, vocational schools, and special needs schools across West Java. The action was simultaneously held at 882 public schools in 27 districts and cities, with the majority of participants, 327,604 students, coming from public institutions.

West Java Regional Secretary Herman Suryatman described the Ecological Action as more than just a closing ceremony. He stressed its role as the beginning of character formation that should be continuously applied in daily life, emphasizing that the event was symbolic and real action was crucial upon returning to homes, schools, and communities.

Head of the West Java Education Agency, Purwanto, added that the Ecological Action is part of the pedagogical practice for implementing Pancawaluya character education, which is expected to become a culture in all educational units. He clarified that it's not a one-day activity but a learning practice that should become a habit, starting with personal hygiene and extending to the school and surrounding environment as part of character education. The agency collaborated with various environmental organizations, local government, and security forces for the event.
