West Java DPRD Continues Deliberations on Two Priority Draft Regulations

The West Java Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) convened a plenary meeting on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, to discuss two significant draft regional regulations (Ranperda). These drafts focus on environmental protection and management, and amendments to the existing regulation on education.

This session follows up on a previous plenary meeting on June 9, 2026, where Governor Dedi Mulyadi presented the initial proposals. Following the governor's introduction, all factions within the DPRD engaged in detailed discussions on the substance of both Ranperda on June 23, 2026. The insights gathered from these deliberations were then presented as general opinions during the current plenary session.

Buky Wibawa, the Speaker of the West Java DPRD, highlighted the importance of this stage in the regional regulation development process. He noted that the factions offered their perspectives, input, and strategic observations on the proposed drafts. According to an agreement from the DPRD's Deliberative Body meeting, three factions directly presented their general opinions, while others submitted them in writing. Representatives from the Democratic Party, Nasdem Party, and PAN presented their views, offering appreciation for the regional government's initiatives alongside recommendations for improvement.

The legislative process will continue with the Governor of West Java providing his official response to these factional opinions, scheduled for a plenary meeting on Thursday, June 25, 2026. In addition to these two key drafts, the DPRD also addressed further discussions on a draft regulation concerning the formation of regional legal products. The Regional Regulation Formation Body (Bapemperda) had previously presented an explanation of this draft on June 9, 2026. The governor's official opinion on this matter was also presented, advancing the legislative process toward the factions' responses, also slated for June 25, 2026.
