West Java Governor Awards $60,000 to Champion Football Club Persib Bandung

The West Java Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD Jabar) has lauded Governor KDM for awarding 1 billion Indonesian Rupiah (approximately $60,000 USD) to the football club Persib Bandung.

This significant sum, referred to as 'kadeudeuh' or a token of appreciation, was given to Persib following their victory as champions of the 2025/2026 Super League. Zaini Shofari, a member of Commission V DPRD Jabar from the F-PPP faction, stated that the governor's action demonstrates care for the advancement of football in West Java.

Shofari emphasized that such awards are not merely symbolic but serve as crucial moral encouragement for the entire sports ecosystem in West Java, fostering a more competitive and professional environment. He believes that regional leaders' support for football clubs can significantly boost athletic performance at both national and international levels.

The governor personally handed over the award to the CEO of PT Persib Bandung Bermartabat, Glenn Sugita, at the West Java DPRD building. This event underscored the provincial government's commitment to supporting sports achievements, particularly for Persib Bandung, which is considered an icon of West Javanese football. Shofari also urged Persib to maintain its high performance and focus on modern club management, including player development and professional transfer strategies.
