West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has launched an unconventional initiative, offering cash bounties to citizens who capture criminals. The program aims to incentivize the public to assist in apprehending muggers, pickpockets, and robbers. Rewards will vary from Rp5 million to Rp50 million, with the condition that apprehended individuals must be handed over to the police alive. Mulyadi, known for his distinctive approach to governance, has declared a state of alert to combat rising crime rates in the province. He has reportedly coordinated with the West Java and Metro Jaya regional police departments to bolster security measures, including ensuring patrol cars are on constant alert each night with hazard lights illuminated. This move signals the governor's determination to address public safety concerns through direct citizen involvement and enhanced police presence.
