West Java Legislator Urges Faster Construction of Depok Vocational School

Pradi Supriatna, a member of the West Java Regional People's Representative Council, is pressing the provincial government to accelerate the construction of SMK Negeri 5 Depok. The vocational school is planned for the Meruyung sub-district in Limo.

Supriatna highlighted the urgency, noting that the Depok city government has already handed over the land to the provincial administration. He stated that the school is crucial for expanding access to vocational education for the community. "If the land is available and the student admission process has begun, then the construction of the school building must be immediately followed up. It's important that students don't start learning before the school facilities are optimally ready," Supriatna said on Saturday, August 1, 2026.

He believes that building public schools should be part of the government's effort to provide equitable and accessible education. Depok, with its rapidly growing population, requires additional educational facilities, particularly vocational schools that equip students with job-ready skills. Supriatna also urged the West Java Education Agency to coordinate with the Depok city government to prevent administrative or technical hurdles.

Previously, Depok Mayor Supian Suri had also asked the West Java Education Agency to expedite the school's construction, following a site survey by the agency.
