West Java Partners with KPK to Shield Officials and Families from Corruption Practices

West Java officials and their spouses are undergoing integrity training to uphold ethical standards and prevent corruption during their public service. The program, a joint initiative by the West Java Provincial Government and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), aims to instill anti-corruption values within families.

To remain integrous, there must be no intention to commit corruption or accept gratuities. The main goal is that when their term of office ends, all officials can complete it with husnul khatimah (a good end).

During the opening of the training in Cimahi, West Java Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan stressed the importance of integrity for all officials. He urged them to resist the temptation of corruption and bribery, ensuring they complete their terms with a good reputation. The training's theme, "Realizing Integrity Families Through the Instillation of Anti-Corruption Values," underscores the critical role families play in supporting officials' ethical conduct.

Erwan highlighted that family pressure, particularly from spouses, can sometimes lead officials astray. "That's why we invited their partners to this education so they understand how to provide positive support," he explained. The deputy governor emphasized that officials should not be burdened by demands for a certain lifestyle from their families, which could compromise their duties as public servants.

KPK Deputy Chairman Ibnu Basuki Widodo added that combating corruption involves not only enforcement but also education and public engagement. He stressed that protecting officials also means ensuring their partners act as key supporters of integrity, fostering a household environment that encourages living within one's means. This, he noted, helps prevent corrupt practices by serving as a constant reminder against wrongdoing.
