West Java Police Uncover Two New Crime Scenes in Taufik Hidayat Case; Reconstruction Set for Thursday

West Java Police have identified two additional crime scenes as part of their investigation into the severe assault and confinement of a woman, identified by the initials YTR. The suspect, Taufik Hidayat, who was previously on the wanted list, has been apprehended and is currently in detention.

Director of the Women and Child Protection and Human Trafficking Directorate at West Java Regional Police, Kombes Rumi Untari, stated that investigators discovered the two new locations during a preliminary reconstruction of the case. The full reconstruction is planned for Thursday, July 2, 2026, provided no unforeseen circumstances arise.

"We found two new crime scenes and have also conducted a preliminary reconstruction. If there are no obstacles, as planned, we will conduct the reconstruction on Thursday," Untari said on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. She noted that evidence was secured from these new locations.

The case now involves a total of six crime scenes. Initially, four locations were reported, with two additional sites, described as boarding rooms, being identified later. The reconstruction will not take place at the crime scenes themselves but at the West Java Regional Police headquarters. Investigators will coordinate with prosecutors and legal counsel for both the suspect and the victim during the reconstruction process. Additional statements have also been taken from the victim.
