This suggests that external pressures and a lack of dedicated personal time significantly impact a couple's sex life.

"The lack of sex and misunderstanding in this area can, after some time, separate people and lead to other problems in the relationship. Discover them in time and thus prevent distancing," stated Meneleos Apostolou, an author of the research. He further noted that a partner sensing a lack of enthusiasm from their significant other can lead to feelings of oppression.

Other significant factors contributing to a decrease in sexual activity include spending excessive time at work, which ranks as a major reason. Poor communication and misunderstanding regarding sexual issues with a partner are also cited. Additionally, frequent arguments, personality differences, and abuse can make sexual intimacy less appealing over time. For couples who have recently become parents, the lack of time and space for intimacy is a commonly reported challenge.
